The Big 2 - 9!

Happy Birthday Nate!
Today Nate began the first day of the last year of his youthful 20's. To start it off, I made him a big breakfast then later we went to the pool to cool off in this crazy heat.

Tonight, I took him out for all you can eat sushi at Mosun in Laguna Beach. This has always been a dream of Nate's (the all you can eat part), since he can never get enough sushi when we go out. I am not a fan of sushi, so I got me a quesadilla at Taco Loco while we waited to get in. I watched as Nate giddily ate his endles supply of sushi and I sipped on my water.

Nate stuffed himself a lot quicker than we both expected; he planned on having many of the entrees on the menu, but only ended up eating 4 - yep that's it!

Afterwards, I knew that I needed a treat, even if Nate couldn't stand the thought of anymore food. We stopped at a gelato place on our way home, which was of course closed, it was 9:30. I still needed to fulfill my craving, so we hit Rite Aid as a last ditch effort to get me my fix. And what do ya know, Thrifty's was still open, yay! What a great ending to a great night.

Happy Birthday Nate, you are a wonderful husband and dad - lucky me!

A "Ferry" Good Time

Last Saturday, we headed to Balboa Island with some friends for a change of scenery. With 10 people in our party, half of it consisting of kids, our choices for dinner were limited, so we ended up at a quaint Chinese restaurant. Afterwards, ready for a treat, we headed to a some little shops to get a chocolate covered frozen banana, sugar cookies and a bag full of salt water taffy (the latter being a personal favorite!) We ended the night by driving all 3 of our cars onto a ferry that took us from one side of the small island to another - about a 5 min. ride. The kids thought it was better than Disneyland :) and we all had a great time.

Nate's Idea of a Hearty Dinner

I asked Nate to get dinner for Kalli tonight. He said she has already had 3 pieces of bread. I asked him to make her something else, but he insisted that is all she needs since that is all SHE wanted. He said what's the difference from that or a PB&J, this is just healthier because there is no fattening peanut butter or jelly filled with sugar. Nate could have debated this all night, instead, I made Kalli some noodles and called it good.

The New Addition

Kalli drew a picture of the family, from left to right:
Kalli, Baby Brother, Mommy and Daddy (hanging on to Mommy's leg :)

I hope this is a sign that our little baby will be welcomed into our family by his big sister. She has been talking about the little baby more since we found out it is a boy. I think it made the whole pregnant thing real to her. She is so helpful now, I am sure she will be a great help when our baby finally arrives. Can't wait!

It's a Boy!

So you might have wondered lately if I was eating donuts by the handful, but really it is more like hamburgers, since that is my latest craving. Yep, I am pregnant and 15 weeks into it. On Monday, we went to Costa Mesa to the raved about Ultrasound Services and found out that we are having a baby boy. It more just confirmed my suspicions than surprised me. This prenancy has been a little different than Kalli was and I have felt like it was a boy from the beginning (but I did think Kalli was a boy too...). At any rate, we are very excited to bring this little guy into our family and Kalli can't wait to be a big sister. September 20th is the day he is supposed to arrive, so let's pray he is on time (or early :) Until then, wish me luck and comfort through this hot summer that lies ahead!
