Trick or Treat

This year we went to Oak street in Laguna Beach to trick or treat. I had heard from a couple of friends that they shut the street off (true) and the people that live there really get into the Halloween spirit (true again). We went a little early to beat the mob and when we got there the party was just getting started. We met with the Forests and began our journey. Kalli dressed as a Pig (she was mistaken as a bunny frequently; I don't know many bunnies with a snout, curly tail, and hooves, do you?) and Boston dressed as a Bee, had a great time filling their buckets with lots and lots of candy. Of course, this year Kalli was old enough to pick her own candy...which was a bummer, for me; I don't like lollipops that much :) We finished up and were so happy we made the trek there. On our way back home, we decided to go see the Savages in their neighborhood and maybe hit a few more houses there (I know we are so greedy). We found them and did go to a few more homes, filling our buckets even more but with candy that I like as well. Yum, yum. We went back to the Savages home for a little bit and talked while the girls played. We didn't get home until 9:30 p.m. - way past Kalli's bedtime, but I guess we have to break the rules once in a while, right? All in all we had a fabulous time, hmmm...I think we will do it again next year.

Kalli's New 'Do'

Kalli got her first haircut today. She was so good, even though the lady was a little rough, she didn't cry once (of course, I did bribe her with a little treat beforehand). I love the new 'do'. It is cut in an A-Line and makes her hair look so much fuller. Finally, her long scraggly hair is gone. Though, it does throw me off a little when I look at her now. It is so cute! She has the "big girl" cut to go with the new 3 year age.

Happy Birthday Kalli!

Kalli has now officially reached, according to her, the "big girl" age of 3. She had her first friend Halloween birthday party today and it was so much fun! The kids came dressed in their Halloween costumes, looking adorable; Kalli was dressed as a pig. Yep, you read right, of all the things that she could choose, a pig was at the top of her list :) The kids got to paint pumpkins, then we went over to the park to hit the witch pinata, which they still might be hitting if it wasn't for Jake's great arm (first swing). Thanks Jake! Next, we sang Happy Birthday to Kalli and she blew out the candles on her orange cupcake. Soon after, presents were opened and then we ate some good ol' pizza. Kalli loved every moment, it was so fun watching her in all her glory. She has a lot of good friends and enjoys spending time with each and every one. I can't believe our little girl is getting so big. I hope this next year goes by a little slower...but for now Happy Birthday Kalli, we love you!

Pumpkin Carving Time

Want some?

Smile!
I love Halloween time! Tonight for FHE we carved pumpkins. Kalli loves digging in and helping out. Nate told her he loves pumpkin seeds (cooked), so she kept eating the raw ones telling us how much she liked them too. I don't know how good they could have been, but if daddy likes them they have to be good, right?
*Notice the finished product is toothless, just like it's creator (Kalli) :)

Kalli Getting Dizzy

This makes me laugh...

Boo Blast

We went to the Moulton Elementary School's Boo Blast today with the Savages. It was a lot of fun. Kalli and Emi got to play some fun games and win prizes. I think Kalli liked getting her face painted the most (even though we had to bribe her with food-suprise, surprise- to get her to do it :)

Where Has the Time Gone?

I came home from work today completely pooped! (I was up until 2 a.m.this morning doing laundry) All I wanted to do was lay on the couch and sleep. So I told Kalli to play with some toys/color/etc while I rested. She dutifully played for a couple minutes then decided to be my mom and "put me to bed." She covered me with her Winne the Pooh blanket, making sure she had my arms and legs completely covered and tucking it in around my face - just like I do for her. She gave me a hug and kiss and told me she loves me, then told me to go to sleep. After a bit, I got up and Kalli asked if I had a good nap. So sweet! Now how old is she again...3 going on 30! Time goes by too fast, it just seems like yesterday when...

Dentist...Aaagh!

I went to a new dentist yesterday to get my teeth whitened (for the first time - yay!) with this new machine called ZOOM. You only have to go once and it whitens your teeth as bright as they will go and you also get trays to take home. I had my appointment at 9 am and Nate said the treatment is only a 15 minute process so I assumed I would be out of there no later than 10. Boy was I wrong! I get there and the assistants don't seem to know why I am there, they tried getting me ready for an exam. I told them I am ONLY getting my teeth whitened, they looked a little confused and told me to wait for the dentist to come in. My dentist arrives and tells me I need to get my teeth cleaned before the whitening in order for it to work the best. I agreed since I hadn't had them cleaned in a little while, so she proceeds to get out the dental daggers and has me sit back. I have never had a dentist attack my teeth the way she did. It was soooo painful. My gums were bleeding all over the place, it was disgusting! So now it was time to get my teeth whitened (of course, after she talked me into getting X-Rays on my teeth to check for cavities-fyi there were none :) She informed me it was an hour process not 15 minutes (Whoops, Nate!) I just wanted to get it over with, I mean that was the reason I was there-right? So her assistant began putting this unknown substance on my teeth, of course she didn't really seem to know what she was doing and kept getting it on my gums, which stung like crazy! The dentist came in and politely chastised her for doing whatever the crap she was doing, then took over. The process was done in 20 min increments and each time they reapplied this substance (which I found out was a bleach). I laid there with my mouth set open wide and my lips painfully dry for a whole hour, bored out of my mind! To top it off the awful assistant applied the last coating on my teeth and of course got it all over my gums again which was very painful! Finally, 2 1/2 hours later, I was finished, but my teeth were sore and sensitive. She said I would get shooting pains in my teeth for a while, of course there had to be more pain-why would I get to be done already?? My mouth felt like it had been in a war zone.
So I made it through and here I am today with a brighter smile, but I sure paid the price!
